Foster Calves

Neither of these little devils are Stacey’s own calves.  She accepts strangers early in her lactation but doesn’t hesitate to let me know when she’s had enough.  She is very thin at this stage.  Too thin.  Not long after this I noticed her becoming slightly lame.  Being a horse person I assumed she either needed a hoof trim or had laminitis.  It turned out to be a Phosphorus deficiency.  More on that in Nutrition.
